I wrote a piece for the Conversation about GitHub Copilot, the “AI assistant” for programmers that had just come out of beta, and whether it was about to put coders like me out of a job. The short version: it’s a genuine force multiplier, but the human coder is still a crucial part of the system—as curator rather than creator.
